Coromant Capto holders will become the global ISO standard

The Coromant Capto tool holder, developed by Sandvik Coromant in the late 1980s and launched in 1990, will soon become the global ISO standard. The ISO certification application was approved by the agency's certification department at the end of 2007 and was officially implemented in the second quarter of 2008.
Ronald Schreiber, Manager of Sandvik Coromant Tooling Systems, said: "This certification means that users of Coromant Capto products have a new reference: that system will be the dominant system for a long time. The unique structure of Coromant Capto makes it a stable and safe system for turning, milling and drilling, as well as for multi-tasking machines. As a standard tool interface, it has also proven to be used in production. Particularly useful for manufacturers of a variety of machine tools."
Using Coromant Capto means that you only need one type of tool holder, regardless of the application and type of machine tool. This also means that the tool can be converted between different types of machine tools, so that the system is especially valuable for manufacturers who need a range of different machine tools and processes. Schreiber said, “This usually requires several different sets of tools.”
Since this year, Sandvik Coromant will no longer hold patents, so ISO certification is a way to protect the unique functions of the tooling system after the patent expires. Schreiber said: "By benefiting from ISO certification, Coromant Capto will always maintain the current high standards."
