A high-resolution (pixel) image is an important condition when performing image individual recognition. However, in the normal real-time monitoring environment (viewing distance and displaying dynamic images), the observation effect of HD images and SD images is not much different; when performing image behavior analysis, the frame rate stability (time resolution capability) of images is very demanding. High, but the image (space) resolution requirements are not high. Therefore, when constructing a video surveillance system, it is necessary to analyze the specific problems and adapt to the local conditions. Select the appropriate occasions and parts to adopt high-definition cameras. Do not simply proceed from the concept and make a one-size-fits-all approach.

At present, the high-definition video surveillance system has not yet formed a unified standard (standard), how to realize the complete supporting and unified interface of the camera, transmission, recording, display, image transformation and processing equipment in the system. This is also the problem that HD video surveillance technology should solve as soon as possible. Only by establishing a unified standard and forming a complete package can we achieve the interchangeability and versatility of the equipment of each manufacturer, providing users with more choices.

The most important thing is to solve the integration problem between HD images and standard image systems. They cannot simply be two separate systems to ensure high quality images and high resolution in HD systems. The video surveillance system must perform comprehensive display, recording, and editing of images of various signal sources in the system, down-converting high-definition images, or up-converting standard images. At present, it is rare to see a system that up-converts SD signals. Most systems decode HD image signals into SD format (down-conversion) during image display. Obviously, such a system discounts the image quality of HD cameras.
