Indian government may be forced to raise urea prices

Recently, in India, where the price of potash and phosphate fertilizers rose rapidly, the Indian government may be under pressure to increase urea prices. Compared with the rate of increase of phosphate fertilizer and potash fertilizer price, the price adjustment of urea is too late. The Indian government believes that this will not only lead to more serious imbalance of soil nutrients, but also increase the subsidies for fertilizers. An official from the Indian Fertilizer Association said: "The government is raising the price of urea is imminent." For this reason, the relevant departments will aim at further liberalizing the urea price control. However, the government has guaranteed that the price of urea will not increase by more than 10% because India’s urea policy will involve domestic politics and national finances. At the same time, the government is worried that prices will increase at an accelerated pace once the controls are relaxed.
