Shanxi Province is one of the four major provinces in which the state plans to develop electrolytic aluminum industry. As of 2008, Shanxi Province has more than 4 million tons of alumina production capacity and 3 million tons of output; electrolytic aluminum production capacity is more than 1 million tons and output is nearly one million tons; aluminum and aluminum deep processing capacity is more than 500,000 tons and output is about 100,000 tons.

Construction of the four major alumina and electrolytic aluminum production bases. Relying on Chinalco, Luneng Jinbei Aluminum, Yangquan Zhaofeng Aluminum, New Oriental Aluminum and other enterprises, through the elimination of backwardness, mergers and reorganizations, industrial extension, the formation of an industrial chain with bauxite, alumina, electrolytic aluminum integration. Build four aluminum oxide and electrolytic aluminum production bases in Yuncheng, Taiyuan, Quzhou and Yangquan.
Strong aluminum alloy industry. Relying on its advantages in electrolyzing aluminum enterprises, it promoted mergers and reorganizations, developed aluminum alloy materials for various purposes, and built four aluminum alloy production bases in Yuncheng, Taiyuan, Quzhou and Yangquan.
Develop aluminum alloy deep processing industry. Through the expansion of investment promotion and the development of follow-up enterprises, Yuncheng, Yangquan, Taiyuan and Jincheng aluminum alloy deep-processing industrial clusters will be built.
