At SunPower's analyst seminar, the company briefly mentioned its technology roadmap, emphasizing that the conversion efficiency of the "X-Series" component platform will increase from 21.5% today to 23% by 2015.
SunPower recently introduced its latest generation of components that enable its "Maxeon Gen 3" copper-based solar cell technology with conversion efficiency of over 24%.
Jack Peurach, Executive Vice President of Products, pointed out in the presentation that due to demand, the "E Series" component line can be migrated to the X Series at a low cost.
The company said that its goal is to increase module efficiency by 10% and reduce manufacturing costs per watt by 35%. The company claims that this will maintain SunPower's high competitiveness against conventional photovoltaic components by 2015.
