The method, use and maintenance of filter-type gas mask

Proper Wearing Method
When using a gas mask, the first step is to choose the right size based on your head circumference. Once you have the correct mask, adjust the middle and upper headbands to a comfortable position. Then, release the headband, hold the sides of the mask with both hands, take a deep breath, close your eyes, and place the mask over your face, ensuring your chin is properly covered. Use both hands to pull the mask back toward the top of your head, secure the front strap, and then fasten the headband tightly so that the mask forms a tight seal against your face. Finally, take a deep breath and open your eyes to confirm it's properly worn.

To check the airtightness of the mask, use both hands to cover the air inlet and outlet valves. Take a breath; if the mask collapses slightly and stays close to your face without any air leakage, it’s sealed correctly. If not, adjust the position or check for any issues until a proper seal is achieved.

While wearing the mask, avoid pressing your hair or the headband into the mask frame. Also, make sure the headband clips don’t bend inward, as this could affect the seal. It’s important to shave your beard before putting on the mask to ensure a good facial seal and prevent gaps that could let in harmful substances.

Usage and Maintenance
1. When using the mask, start by placing it from your chin upward and adjust the headband for a snug fit. After putting it on, use your palm to block the air intake of the filter cartridge and inhale. If the mask remains tight against your face without leaking, it’s properly sealed and ready for use in hazardous environments.
2. After use, wipe away any sweat or dirt, especially around the lenses and the exhalation valve. Keep the inhalation valve clean. If needed, rinse the mask with water and clean the filter box thoroughly.
3. In environments where viruses are present, the mask and filter box can be wiped with a 1% peracetic acid solution for disinfection. The mask can also be soaked in the solution, but the filter box must not be submerged or exposed to water, as this could damage it. After disinfecting, rinse the mask with clean water and allow it to dry completely before reuse.
