Straight End Stops HAAS AXIS Cable Railing Components Installation

In this blog, we'll take a deep dive into the installation process of HAAS AXIS Straight End Stops. These end stops are designed to provide stability and precision for your posts, ensuring a secure attachment point for cables. Let’s walk through the steps required to install them effectively. To begin, the first crucial step involves marking your post. You’ll need your marking template handy to accurately identify where the screw pilot holes should be placed for your AXIS straight end stops. This ensures that everything aligns perfectly when you move forward with drilling.

Once the marks are made, it’s time to drill pilot holes using a 1/8" bit. Set your drill to its highest speed setting to ensure clean and precise holes. Drill approximately 2 inches deep into your post at each marked spot. Be sure to repeat this procedure for every single mark along the post.

After drilling the pilot holes, you’ll notice that the AXIS straight end stops consist of four distinct components: the AXIS straight receiver, a stainless-steel decking screw, the AXIS swage stud, and the AXIS straight eye. Familiarizing yourself with these parts beforehand can help streamline the assembly process.

The next phase involves mounting the AXIS straight receivers onto the post. To accomplish this, fit a T-20 star bit into your drill and adjust the speed to its lowest setting. Pass the stainless-steel mounting screw through the AXIS straight receiver before driving both the screw and the receiver into the drilled holes on the post.

Make certain to follow this procedure for all remaining AXIS straight receivers. With the receivers securely mounted, attention shifts toward attaching the precut cables to these receivers. Start by locating your AXIS straight eyes and swage studs, threading them together in preparation for insertion.

Next, insert each precut cable into the AXIS swage studs while ensuring they sit snugly at the rear of the swage cavity. Once the swage studs are firmly attached to the ends of the cables, grab your Crenshaw swaging tool and proceed to swage each stud.

Align the die of the swager with the swage area on the stud—this region lies between the opening of the stud and the small indentation line visible on the stud. Close the handles of the swager to create the initial swage, then reopen them slightly, rotating the cable and stud by about 90 degrees before making the final swage. Repeat this process across all swage studs for the entire run.

Finally, after installing all straight receivers and pre-swaging the AXIS swage studs, simply thread the studs into their respective receivers. Align the stud with the receiver opening and turn it until it locks securely in place. Complete this action for all remaining AXIS straight end stops on the post. At this stage, you’re ready to run the cables and tighten them at the opposite end. By following these steps, you’ll achieve a solid and professional-looking installation of HAAS AXIS Straight End Stops. This not only enhances the functionality of your posts but also adds a touch of craftsmanship to your project.
