When it comes to supermarket entry systems, especially induction doors, they usually fall into two main categories based on their sensing technology: infrared and radar. Each has its own way of detecting movement and triggering the door to open.
Firstly, let’s talk about infrared sensing doors. These typically feature a slim barrier post in front of the main support column where the door swings. Inside this barrier post, there's a sensor. On one side of the post, you’ll often find an infrared emitter, while on the opposite side, there’s a reflective surface, much like the kind you’d see on a bike’s rear light. The system works by emitting a beam of red light that reflects off the surface to complete a circuit. When a customer walks past, the infrared beam gets interrupted, which then sends a signal to the main sensor column, prompting the door to open. This setup is particularly effective for controlling one-way traffic and ensuring smooth flow without unnecessary movements.
On the other hand, radar sensing doors offer a more seamless experience. Unlike infrared doors, these don’t usually have a visible barrier in front. Instead, the sensor is mounted directly on the main column. This creates an invisible detection zone roughly a meter out from the column. No matter if you're walking straight toward the door or approaching from the side, as long as you’re within this sensing range, the door will detect your presence and automatically open. It’s a bit like having an invisible eye watching for anyone who needs access.
Both types of sensors play a crucial role in enhancing customer convenience while maintaining efficient store management. While infrared systems provide precise control over door activation, radar sensors offer broader coverage and adaptability to various angles of approach. Together, they ensure that customers can enter the supermarket smoothly and safely, regardless of how they move toward the door.
