Five ways to identify pesticides

The dilution method: Take 100 grams of emulsifiable pesticide and mix it with 300 grams of water in a glass bottle. Shake the bottle vigorously, then let it sit for 30 minutes. If the mixture is not uniform, if there's an oily layer on top, or if sediment forms at the bottom, this indicates that the pesticide has degraded and is no longer effective. The more emulsified the liquid appears, the worse its quality. The floating test: Take 1 gram of wettable powder pesticide and spread it evenly into 200 ml of clear water. If the powder is fully wetted within one minute and sinks to the bottom, it is still effective. If it floats on the surface or does not dissolve properly, the pesticide may have lost its potency. The shaking test: If the emulsion pesticide separates into oil and water layers, shake the bottle forcefully. After standing for one hour, if the layers reappear, the product has likely failed. A good pesticide should remain well-mixed after shaking. The hot dissolution test: Place the emulsion pesticide containing sediment into warm water at 50°C. After one hour, if the sediment dissolves slowly, the pesticide is still usable. However, if the sediment doesn’t dissolve or only partially dissolves, the pesticide has deteriorated and should not be used. The suspension test: Take 50 grams of wettable powder pesticide and add it to a glass container filled with water. Stir thoroughly and let it stand for 10 minutes. If the powder does not dissolve well, and the suspended particles are coarse or settle quickly, the pesticide is likely ineffective. A high-quality pesticide should disperse evenly and remain in suspension for a longer time.

This method helps users quickly assess the quality of pesticides at home, ensuring safety and effectiveness before use. Always follow proper handling and disposal guidelines when working with chemical products.
