Investigation on the living conditions of resource fir

Fragile fir, are you okay?

At present, people will not see the twitching face of the trees, and will not hear the shuddering shudder, and will not lead to fleeing or flying away.

Trees have no mouths, no legs, no wings, and they are more helpless and vulnerable than animals in the face of deadly threats. The trees of the global plants are facing a heart-warming situation.

In late May of this year, I climbed to Yinzhu Laoshan, 2021 meters above sea level in Guilin County, Guangxi, to see if I could visit such a fragile and rare tree. There are only 32 national first-class protected plant resources fir.

Less than 10 people who have seen resource firs

At present, Resource County knows the exact location of the resource firs of less than 10 people, mainly the current forest guards, the teaping villagers who used to be forest guards, and the peasants of the county forest bureaus. In recent years, there have been occasional foreign experts who asked the rangers to visit the resource firs, but rarely took photographs, especially no one took pictures of firs with high precision.

The sporadic resources of the firs are scattered on the slopes of the Yinzhu Laoshan on the west side of the Yuechengling at an altitude of 1,650 to 1,850 meters. To see the resource fir, we need to first rush from the resource county to the Yinzhu Laoshan Natural Resources Protection Station at an altitude of 1396 meters. This road will take more than 6 hours; the next morning, we will climb from the protection station to the resource fir distribution point. Need to walk more than 6 hours.

I entered the mountain from Chaping Village, Meixi Township, Resources County on May 21, 2012. Yang Zhongkui, director of the Yinzhu Laoshan Natural Resources Protection Station of the County Forestry Bureau, said: “The area of the Yinzhu Laoshan Autonomous Region Nature Reserve is only 1445.4 hectares. Researcher Ning Shijiang of the Guangxi Institute of Botany, Chinese Academy of Sciences believes that the silver bamboo is old. There are 96 resource firs in the mountain, but according to our field investigation, there are only 32 plants. The largest distribution point is red stone rock, there are 21 plants. The second is the triangular pot pond, there are 7 plants. There are 3 strains of Erbao Ding. There is one strain in Guangxi."

We arrived at the Yinzhu Laoshan Protection Station at 7 o'clock in the evening. There is only one owner in the station - the guardian on duty that day, and the Miao villager Yang Zhongshan in Chaping Village at the foot of the mountain.

On May 22, the mountains have been raining, and the arrangements for exploring the resources of fir have to be shelved. There was still some fog on the morning of the 23rd, but the rain stopped. I asked Yang Zhongkui to agree. On the 22nd, I took the Miao nationality forest guard Lei Chengguang from Yangpingshan to take the road to the summit. We set off at 9:10 am and finally saw the first resource fir at 3:40 pm. There is basically no road in the mountains. We are all raining, and the fog is full of fog. It was once lost.
