Recently, the National Local Joint Engineering Laboratory Project for the Preparation and Application of Plastic Optical Fibers Supported by the National Development and Reform Commission has been completed. The project was undertaken by Sichuan Huiyuan Plastic Optical Fiber Co., Ltd. to build a research and development platform for low-loss plastic optical fiber, special plastic optical fiber, optical system application, testing technology and standards.
During the project implementation period, it has undertaken 15 national, provincial and ministerial level technical development projects; obtained 15 national authorized patents, including 4 invention patents; formulated and revised 1 national standard and 3 industry standards; published 89 papers; passed provincial scientific and technological achievements. 2 items were identified, and the technical level is leading domestically.
The research results have achieved industrialization. Plastic optical fiber products, heat-resistant optical cables with color strips, wall switches, and optical transceiver modules have all filled the domestic gap. The quality of plastic optical fiber products has reached the highest level in the world and can completely replace imports. The cost of saving imported products exceeds 100 million yuan; the only industrial production equipment that can achieve the highest level of transparency in the world, which is the world's advanced level, is the continuous polymerization-coextrusion production plastic optical fiber production line.
