Lithium-ion capacitor is a new type of environmentally friendly electrochemical energy storage device. It has high power characteristics of electric double layer capacitors, and at the same time takes into consideration the characteristics of high energy density of lithium ion batteries. It is used as a start/drive power source or energy recovery device in electric vehicles and high speeds. Rail/intercity rail transport is playing an increasingly important role.
Recently, under the support of the “863†project of the National High-Tech Research and Development Program and the Qingdao Strategic Emerging Industry Incubation Project, relying on the Qingdao Institute of Energy Storage and Process Technology of the Chinese Academy of Sciences, the senior engineer Han Pengxian has established Leading research group, along with engineer Yao Jianhua, adopted a graphene-based composite material route to overcome the programmed pre-embedded lithium, positive and negative electrode slurry coating on special current collectors, flexible packaging devices, flatulence suppression, and modular system integration. In order to solve the key technical difficulties in engineering, we have developed lithium ion capacitor devices with controllable capacities such as 150F, 1000F, 2000F, and 3500F. The energy density based on the battery core is over 45Wh/L, and the capacity is maintained at 10000 times at 30C rate. The rate reached 94.7% and the 20,000 capacity retention rate was over 84.3%. At the same time, through the use of modular system integration technology, it successfully demonstrated on electric bicycles, and related technologies are at the leading level in China.
In the next step, the research team will focus on increasing the energy density of devices and solving high-performance conditions under severe working conditions to carry out scientific and technological research and further improve the technical level of the capacitors.
