The national standard for "Wooden Doors and Windows" (GB/T 29498-2013), proposed by the Ministry of Housing and Urban-Rural Development, was reviewed on May 7, 2013, by the National Quality Inspection. The General Administration and the National Standards Committee officially approved its release, with implementation beginning on December 1, 2013. This standard marks a significant milestone as the first national guideline for China's wooden door and window industry.
To ensure smooth adoption of the new standard, professionals in the sector are being guided through detailed training sessions. The National Building Curtain Wall and Window Standardization Technical Committee, in collaboration with the China Construction Metal Structure Association and Beijing Construction Wood Co., Ltd., has organized a series of promotional activities. The first event will take place during the Shenyang Furniture Fair from August 9 to 10, 2013.
The training program includes in-depth analysis of the GB/T 29498-2013 standard, key testing methods for wooden doors and windows, and important considerations during implementation. Participants will also have the opportunity to interact directly with standard writers and ask questions. On August 9, a training session will be held, followed by an examination on August 10. Those who pass will receive certificates, which will be registered with the National Standardization Technical Committee for Building Curtain Walls and Windows. These certificates can be used when bidding for projects.
China's door industry has developed over the past 30 years, but it still lacks multinational companies. To achieve internationalization, the industry needs to focus on production factors, brand recognition, product development, and global operations. A solid set of production standards is essential for this process. While there are many existing industry and enterprise standards, they lack a unified framework. With the introduction of this national standard, the Chinese door industry is better positioned to grow and compete globally. It not only promotes standardization but also opens up new opportunities for Chinese manufacturers to expand their presence internationally. With clear guidelines, the industry is now more equipped to go global and establish itself on the world stage.
Expanded Metal Mesh
Expanded Metal Mesh: Expanded metal mesh is a type of sheet metal that has been cut and stretched to create a pattern of interconnected diamond-shaped openings. This process enhances the strength and rigidity of the material while maintaining its lightweight nature. Expanded metal mesh is versatile and used in various applications such as security fencing, walkways, grating, filtration, enclosures, and architectural elements.
Galvanized Expanded Metal Mesh: Galvanized expanded metal mesh is an expanded metal mesh that has undergone a galvanizing process. Galvanization involves coating the metal mesh with a layer of zinc to protect it from corrosion and rust. The zinc coating provides enhanced durability and weather resistance, making galvanized expanded metal mesh suitable for outdoor applications where exposure to moisture or harsh environments is expected.
Diamond Expanded Metal Mesh: Diamond expanded metal mesh refers to an expanded metal pattern where the openings are in a diamond-shaped configuration. This pattern provides excellent strength and structural support while allowing for good airflow, light transmission, and visibility. Diamond expanded metal mesh is commonly used in architectural designs, decorative applications, speaker grilles, security screens, and machine guards.
Expanded metal mesh, whether galvanized or in a diamond pattern, offers several advantages, including high strength-to-weight ratio, versatility, good ventilation, and ease of fabrication. The specific type of expanded metal mesh chosen depends on the intended application, environmental factors, and desired aesthetic appearance.
