China's silicon product market has fully recovered

Ren Xudong, executive vice president of the China Nonferrous Metals Industry Association, said that since the beginning of this year, the growth in global PV demand has driven the consumption of polycrystalline silicon to increase significantly. In the first half of the year, China’s production of crystalline silicon cells was 18GW, an increase of 59.3% year-on-year, and domestic polysilicon consumption increased to 100,000 tons. At the same time, the increase of 44.9% in polysilicon consumption was transmitted to the upper reaches, which led to the consumption of industrial silicon. The consumption in the domestic half year reached 360,000 tons, an increase of 20.3% over the same period of last year.

According to Ren Xudong, China's major polysilicon production companies have seen a significant rise in operating capacity since the beginning of this year. In the first half of the year, the effective utilization rate of polysilicon reached 86%, an increase of 59% year-on-year; the output reached 65,000 tons, an increase of more than 100% year-on-year. The price of silicon products in the market rebounded.

Data from the China Nonferrous Metals Industry Association showed that the average price of polysilicon in the first half of the year was RMB 161,000/ton, up 23% year-on-year; the average price of 553 industrial silicon was RMB 12,474/ton, up 9.3% year-on-year; the average price of 441 industrial silicon was RMB 13,293 / Ton, up 10.6% year-on-year.

At present, the profitability of most companies in China's silicon industry has improved. In the first half of the year, China's polysilicon industry realized a profit of 600 million yuan, an increase of 208% over the same period of last year. Industrial silicon realized a profit of 630 million yuan, a year-on-year increase of 18.7%.
