He Wencai, deputy director of the Crop Management Department of the Ministry of Agriculture, said that to achieve sustainable development of agriculture and food production, chemical fertilizers will continue to play an irreplaceable role in agricultural production, farmers' income growth, and economic development. At present, China's chemical fertilizer industry still faces problems such as large application of chemical fertilizers, unreasonable fertilization structure, relatively backward fertilization methods, and unreasonable product structure. Faced with more arduous tasks in grain production, more clear requirements for safeguarding the quality and safety of agricultural products, and more pressing environmental pressures, the fertilizer industry must establish the concepts of “increased production, fertilization, economical fertilization, and environmentally-friendly fertilization”, and promote formula fertilization by popularizing scientific fertilization. The use of fertilizers has greatly increased, the structure of fertilizers has been further optimized, and the utilization of chemical fertilizers has been significantly improved.

Li Shousheng, executive vice president of the China Petroleum and Chemical Industry Federation and chairman of the China Nitrogen Fertilizer Industry Association, proposed to accelerate the promotion of independent innovation capabilities, further strengthen scientific and technological research and development, develop new fertilizer products, and implement conventional fertilizer products under the situation of excess capacity. It is a very urgent and arduous task for the fertilizer industry to perform modification and efficiency enhancement. China's fertilizer industry must play a decisive role in adhering to the market's decisive role in resource allocation.
