Proper daily care for Boston ferns involves several key considerations to ensure healthy growth and vibrant foliage.

First, water and fertilizer management are essential. Boston ferns thrive in consistently moist soil, especially during the growing season. However, it's important not to let the soil dry out completely, as this can cause the lower leaves to yellow and fall off. Water regularly, ensuring the soil stays damp but not waterlogged. For fertilization, a balanced water-soluble fertilizer such as 20-20-20 is ideal, along with calcium nitrate and potassium nitrate to support strong growth.

Temperature control is another crucial factor. These plants prefer temperatures between 18°C and 35°C. If the temperature drops below 15°C or rises above 35°C, growth may slow down or become unhealthy. During winter, keep the temperature above 5°C, using heating equipment if necessary. If no heating is available, you can use double insulation and seal the area when temperatures drop to around 22–24°C in the afternoon. In summer, cooling systems like fans or water curtains are recommended. If not available, increase shade and ventilation during midday, mist the leaves and surrounding area to cool the environment, and avoid long-term greenhouse setups—opt for a single-roof structure instead.

Humidity is also vital for Boston ferns, as they prefer high humidity levels of around 75% to 80%. Dry conditions can lead to brown leaf edges or even complete yellowing and wilting. To maintain moisture, regularly mist the plant and its surroundings, especially during dry periods.

Lighting requirements should be carefully managed. Boston ferns prefer bright, indirect light and do not tolerate direct sunlight, which can cause leaf burn, curling, or wilting. After planting, adjust the light intensity gradually: 2000–3000 Lux for the first 15 days, 3000–4000 Lux for the first month, 5000–6000 Lux after two months, and up to 7000–8000 Lux for overall lighting. During winter, you can increase the light intensity to 10000–15000 Lux if needed. Too much light can cause leaf damage, so always monitor the plant’s response and adjust accordingly.
